      Producer Information

St. Francis Winery is a family-owned producer located in Sonoma, California, with vineyards in Sonoma Valley and Russian River Valley. It was founded in the 1970s and today produces an array of wines, focusing mainly on Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. St. Francis produces a diverse range of wines that have been highly awarded and met with acclaim. These include top wines like the Lagomarsino Cabernet Sauvignon and the Anthem Meritage blend, as well as a range of other single-vineyard wines. The Red and White Splash wines are St Francis' entry-level range. In 1971, Joe Martin planted Merlot and Chardonnay in Sonoma Valley, in what is now known as the Behler vineyard. The quality of fruit coming from that vineyard led him to establish St. Francis Winery in 1979 with his business partner, Lloyd Canton. Over the years they acquired more land, including the Lagomarsino vineyard in Russian River Valley and the Wild Oak vineyard in Sonoma Valley. Today, St. Francis has more than 380 acres (153 hectares) of vineyards. The vineyards' location throughout Sonoma means that St. Francis has a wealth of terroir to choose from. The Behler vineyard has gravel and loam soils and a cooling breeze from the Pacific coast, and is planted to Chardonnay and Merlot, which both do very well here. The Lagomarsino vineyard is situated on a hillside, with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon planted at the top where they get more sun, and Chardonnay at the bottom of the slope where it's cooler. Wild Oak vineyard is the most varietally diverse of the vineyards, with varieties like Malbec and Marsanne, as well as Cabernet and Chardonnay.
