Producer Information
Van Volxem is a German wine producer located in Wiltingen, in Germany's Saar region. It is known for its mineral-rich, dry Riesling wines. These are vinified to emulate the famous Saar wines of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The estate lies on the foundations of a Roman villa and its vineyards are some of the oldest in the region. It is said to have been first planted to vine in the 3rd century. In 2000, Roman Niewodniczanski acquired the estate, after four generations of ownership by the Van Volxem family. He expanded the estate, acquiring additional holdings at top vineyards, including in the Grosse Lage Goldberg, Scharzhofberger, Volz, Altenberg and Wiltinger Gottesfuss sites.
