Vintage: 2007

Size: 750ml

ABV: 13%

Varietal: Chardonnay

    Country/Region: France, Burgundy

        Producer Information

Domaine d’Auvenay is a very small domaine based in Saint-Romain since 1988 and the home of the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy. Although she only owns about 4 Ha of vineyards, her personal domaine produces white (Chardonnay) and red (Pinot Noir) wines of transcending quality but in minuscule quantities. Domaine d’Auvenay is farmed biodynamically and Lalou Bize-Leroy is a strong believer in this type of wine making. In her portfolio are no less than 5 Grands Crus: The white “Chevalier- Montrachet” (0.16 Ha), “Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet” (0.06 Ha) and since 2012 “Bâtard-Montrachet” (approx. 0.10 Ha), plus the red “Bonnes Mares” (0.26 Ha) and “Mazis-Chambertin” (0.26 Ha). Furthermore, she owns vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Les Folatières” (0.27 Ha), Puligny-Montrachet “En la Richarde” (0.24 Ha), Meursault 1er Cru “Les Gouttes d’Or (0.20 Ha), Meursault “Les Narvaux” (0.73 Ha), Meursault “Pré de Manche” (0.10 Ha), Meursault “Chaume des Perrières” (0.08 Ha) and plots in Auxey-Duresses: “Les Clous” (0.31 Ha), “Les Bouttoniers” (0.26 Ha) and “La Macabrée” (0.63 Ha). Also, in tiny quantities: A Bourgogne Aligoté “Sous Chatelet”, which is probably the most expensive Aligoté in the world! Unfortunately, Domaine d’Auvenay is not open for public and the wines are sold out when released, so finding a bottle from this estate on the market is extremely difficult. The price of a random bottle is exceptionally high, and a Grand Cru will cost you € 5000,00 or more, depending on the vintage. But the wines are incomparable and second to none. Recent vintages are only released when Lalou Bize-Leroy thinks they are ready for consumption, but the wines also have an amazing ageing potential.
