      Distillery Information

Hacienda de Arizano is a wine estate in the Navarra region of nothern Spain. It produces a range of wines under its estate-specific Pago de Arinzano  designation. Pago de Arinzano was the fifth Spanish "VP" but the first to be outside Castilla La Mancha. Winemaking here can be traced back to the 11th Century, when the land was owned by the nobility. The current estate was planted in 1988 by the Chivite family, and was then known as the Senorio de Arinzano. Within 10 years of the vineyard being planted, the family started lobbying Navarra's Consejo Regulador wine authority for recognition and to be made distinct from the overall Navarra DO, as they believed the estate to be unique from the rest of the region. Thus when VP regulations were introduced, the estate applied immediately. It received VP status in 2007. The property is also home to an 18th-Century mansion constructed by the Marqués de Zabalegui and restored to its former glory by the Chivite family.
