Esporão is a family-owned Portuguese wine company. Producing a large range of wines and olive oils, Esporão is a stalwart producer that is considered as one of the most respected of the country. Located in the Reguengos sub-region of Alentejo, Esporão produced its first vintage in 1985 from the estate which has a rich viticultural history. The geographical boundaries have remained unchanged since its formation in 1267. Today, the company consists of two estates the Herdade de Esporão and the Quinta dos Murças. The extensive portfolio is arranged in several tiers, including the Monte Velho range and a collection of varietal wines from Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Aragonês, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Verdelho, which are all regarded as leading examples of their type. The most renowned wine from Esprão is the Esporão Reserva Tinto, an elegant, subtle blend of Aragonês, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon. Quinta dos Murcas in the Cima Corgo zone of the Douro was bought by Esporão in 2008. Its portfolio of table wines comprises the Assobio range of red, white and rosé, and a reserva made from old vines. A vintage Port and a 10-year-old tawny complete the portfolio.
