Producer Information
Murphy-Goode Winery is a wine producer in the Alexander Valley sub-region of California's Sonoma County. It was founded in 1985 by Tim Murphy, Dale Goode and Dave Ready, with an initial focus on white wines. Its reputation has since given way to red varieties, including Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, and California stalwart Zinfandel. In its first few vintages, Murphy-Goode exclusively made Sauvignon Blanc – which was labeled Fumé Blanc – and Chardonnay. Fruit was sourced from the Murphy-Goode estate vineyard, and from a vineyard on the Murphy family ranch. Today, grapes are also bought from local growers to make the wines. Murphy-Goode's wines are arranged in two collections. The Sonoma County Collection includes both Sonoma County- and Alexander Valley-designated wines, while the value California Collection is a range of wine all carrying the broader California appellation designation. A number of winery exclusives feature other Sonoma sub-regions on the label including Russian River Valley and Knights Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot have been added as single variety offerings as well as in blends beside a number of Zinfandels.
