Bold aromas of juicy blackberry, raspberry and pepper leap from the glass, laced with baking spice and floral aromas. Distillery Information
Girard Winery is a wine producer based in the Calistoga subregion of the Napa Valley. As well as sourcing local fruit, the estate works with winegrowers across some of the region's most renowned sub-appellations, including Rutherford, Diamond Mountain District and St Helena. The winery was founded in 1975 by father and son Steve and Steve Girard. For the last 20 years, the winery has been owned by wine industry businessman Pat Roney. The estate's portfolio is dominated by red wine grape varieties, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah. Girard's flagship wine, Artistry, is a Bordeaux-style blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller quantities of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. These grapes are sourced from a variety of vineyards in Atlas Peak, Oakville, St Helena and Yountville. In general, Girard's red wines are aged in 100 percent French oak barrels, although the Petite Sirah spends approximately 18 months in barrels of French, American and Hungarian oak, about a third of which are new. The smaller selection of white wines includes a Russian River Valley Chardonnay aged for 11 months in French oak, and a Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc vinified in stainless steel tanks.
