"The Absolut distillery story began in 1879 with Lars Olsson Smith and his revolutionary continuous distillation process, which created a purer vodka called Absolut Rent Brännvin. After Smith's death, the brand faded until 1979 when a new generation revived the name, exported the vodka in a now-iconic bottle (inspired by an old medicine bottle), and launched it in the competitive US market."
