A tremendous team-up here, the gang at Batch Spirits collaborated with the folks at Defiance to create this herbaceous gin. Gathering botanicals that would be found in an English heritage garden, including the likes of rosemary, thyme, and carrot, the gin boasts a satisfyingly savoury, herbal profile. Fab in a classic G&T, but let's go back to that carrot for a moment – surely plenty of garnish, and cocktail inspiration right there!
Distillery Information
The family-run Batch Spirits was founded by Phil Whitewell in 2012 in the basement of a house in Lancashire, receiving its distiller’s license after previously producing craft beers. However, it wasn’t until 2015 that they expanded, although this expansion was only to a second basement. Nonetheless, this meant that Batch Signature Gin was being regularly produced in the evenings, as the team still all had full time jobs. That same year Batch Spirits won a silver medal at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition. By 2016 the brand had truly outgrown basement life, and moved to a site in Habergham Mill in Burnley, complete with a brand new larger still called Adrian. Later that year, with the new space they had acquired, they were able to experiment and expand the range, with flavoured gin and a vodka. Since then, the brand has only acquired more medals and added more expressions to the range.
