Ben Nevis 26 Year Old 1998 Single Cask Private Label Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: "Juicy! Barley water, ripe fruit funk, and yeasty bread dough. Apples and pears are joined by tropical notes of tangy pineapple, creamy lemon curd, and Madeira cake."
Palate: "Soft, creamy, sweet, and balanced. A fizz of sugary sherbet bursts through at the start, opening the way for bright notes of papaya, melon, and pear."
Finish: "Supremely moreish, fresh, fruity, juicy, with vibrant barley, buttery oak, gentle spice, a hint of liquorice, a floral touch of Parma Violets, and lingering creamy depth."
Distillery Information
"Ben Nevis Distillery began in 1825 with "Long John" MacDonald, a tall, charismatic bootlegger, near Scotland's highest mountain, becoming famous for its "Dew of Ben Nevis" malt whisky and later for producing both malt and grain whisky with a Coffey still in the 1950s; it faced closure but was revived by Canadian Joseph Hobbs and is now owned by Japan's Nikka, using its spirit for Japanese blends while offering a well-regarded 10-year-old single malt."
