Blue Run Flight Series III | Buck & Brush | Blended Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: A sweet and aromatic burst of citrus that interplays with complex spice.
Palate: Bright and chewy notes of orange lead, as flavors of cinnamon, sassafras, and spearmint pop on the palate.
Finish: Rich black cherry intensifies with the heat of black peppercorn spice.
Distillery Information
Blue Run Spirits is a recently established Kentucky Bourbon and Rye whiskey producer noted for its popular, limited releases. It is based in Georgetown, Kentucky. The company is headed-up by entrepreneur Mike Montgomery and none of the founders of the brand have a background in Bourbon or whiskey production, covering fields in design, IT, hospitality, politics and philanthropy. Blue Run (named for the Kentucky Royal Spring waterway) has modeled its whiskey release strategy on the high-end sneaker market. Very limited runs of each release are heralded via email and social media, with a significant tranche of mail-order releases, partnerships with high-end retailers for physical sales and each run sporting a distinctive version of the brand's butterfly motif. Releases frequently sell out. Blue Run also hires Jim Rutledge, a highly regarded master distiller (formerly master distiller at Four Roses), to serve as an advisor. Rutledge helps select barrels and oversees blending and proofing.
