Producer Information
Champagne de Castelnau, also known simply as Champagne Castelnau, is a Champagne marque produced by the Terroirs et Vignerons de Champagne enterprise – a union of local cooperative cellars headquartered in Reims. A range of wines are produced under the brand, including the standard Brut (which boasts an unusually high portion of Pinot Meunier – 40 percent – as much as the Chardonnay, with 20 percent Pinot Noir), Rosé and Extra Brut offerings and the vintage (Millésimé) Brut and Blanc de Blancs labels. As with so many long-standing Champagne brands, a number of special bottlings, cuvées and special editions will have been released over the years. The brand dates back to 1916 and became the flagship marque of the sizeable Coopérative Régionale des Vins de Champagne on the latter's formation in 1962. The brand now falls under the Terroirs et Vignerons de Champagne organisation, which came into being in 2022 from a merger between the Centre Vinicole – Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte and the Coopérative Régionale des Vins de Champagne (Champagne Castelnau). The organisation covers 80 cooperative cellars across the wider Champagne region, boasting some 6000 winegrowers and 2750 hectares (6790 acres) , or roughly nine percent of the region's vineyards.
