Chalong Bay Lunar Series Single Cask Ex-Jamaican Foundations | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Both rich and elegant. An initial mineral aroma is accompanied by hints of vesuvius and fresh cane sugar. Spicy and medicinal (balsam), the aromatic palette then evolves towards distinctly fruitier tones (lemon, grapefruit, pineapple, banana).
Palate: Lively and taut. With a very pleasant plant-based bitterness (sugar cane, ginseng root), the range of flavours comes back strongly on the fruity notes of the nose. Quite simply, the fruit has become more roasted (pineapple), flambéed (banana) or candied (lemon). Noble spices (cardamom, cloves) gradually make their appearance.
Finish: Long and well-balanced. Mineral (heated asphalt), finely liquoriced and floral (geranium, iris), the finish is softened by the presence of vanilla and milky flavours (coconut, yoghurt). Over time, it becomes more aniseed and camphor. The fibrous aftertaste makes us contemplate a field of cane.

Chalong Bay is a brand new agricultural rum from Phuket, Thailand, an ancestral land of sugar cane. It is a micro-distillery founded a few years ago by a couple of young French people, Marine Lucchini and Thibault Spithakis, who decided to settle down few meters from the beach and recreate the authenticity of Thai rum.
