This custom single barrel project with the Derby City Bourbon Foundation is truly unique. The Foundation took a used Kentucky Bourbon Barrel from another single barrel pick to Akasha Brewing Company, where it was filled with a robust Russian Imperial Stout. Once the beer was dumped and bottled, the Foundation provided us with the empty barrel. We flipped a fully mature brandy into the beer barrel to provide a complex, craft beer barrel finish. The palate is loaded with sweet and smoky malts and a complex, semi-dry oak note that mingle perfectly with the brightness of the fruit spirit. Savor this one-of-a-kind creation either neat or on the rocks.
