Distillery: Eifel

Distillation was done in the German tradition: a primary distillation in a column still (including the grist), followed by a second distillation in a small copper pot still. The alcohol content was reduced to 60% before entering casks. The spirit was first aged for at least 4 years in ex-Bordeaux American oak casks before spending another 4+ years in 1st and 2nd fill Cream Sherry casks. This release is a blend of 8-9 year old whiskies that were distilled in 2012 and 2013.

Eifel German Single Malt Edition 2021 Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromas of Black Forest gateaux, Nutella, sesame bars, freshly ground spices, dunnage floors, and tobacco.

Palate: It's a brooding, serious whisky with flavors of toffee, dark fruit, treacle sponge, pepper, spices, and leather, with a deep well of black currant, bramble and black cherry flavors.

Finish: Finish is smooth and long.
