Glen Grant distillery was founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant in Speyside, Scotland. A key part of its story is the innovation of James "The Major" Grant, who took over in 1872 and introduced tall, slender stills and water-cooling purifiers to create a distinct whisky character.
