Distillery Information
Situated in the Rothes, in the heart of Speyside, Glenrothes has been producing single malt whisky since 1879. Soft water is supplied by the river Spey and the team favour tall stills for increased reflux during the distillation. Mashing and fermentation are short compared to other distilleries, but distillation is long. The result is a fruity, complex spirit with distinct cereal notes. European and American ex-Sherry oak is the maturation vessel of choice at Glenrothes with some use of ex-Bourbon casks. Both the core range and the single vintage bottlings have gained praise from whisky lovers and critics alike and Glenrothes continues to make a name for itself as one of Speyside's most reliable single malts.
