Kaiyo Five Wood Japanese Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Candied orange peel, vanilla, melon, pear, and barley sugar, with aromatic traces of mizunara oak and bergamot.

Palate: Lemon meringue pie, zesty orange, pepper, caramel, and peach flavors, with developing honey and baked orange notes.

Finish: The mizunara character shines through in the long, silky finish of ripe summer fruits.

Distillery Information

Kaiyo is a negotiant bottler of Japanese whisky that was started by a drinks group led by a former Asahi employee. The whisky is made from 100% malted barley spirit and aged in Mizunara oak casks.
