Distillery Information

The Knockdhu distillery was founded in 1893 by John Morrison, who chose the location for its access to pure water from Knock Hill, nearby barley and peat, and proximity to the Great North of Scotland Railway line. After starting production in 1894, it faced closures due to economic depressions and wartime restrictions before being bought by Inver House in 1988 and restarting production the following year.
