Laphroaig 16 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company - Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Delicate notes of strawberry jam, earthy walnuts and fragrant cigar smoke join layers of smoky soy, polished oak, and liquorice, with medicinal peat nestling beneath.

Palate: Rich, creamy malt, roasted chestnuts, leading to salty, zesty notes of preserved lemons, cracked black peppercorns, and a hint of smoky, floral tea.

Finish: Pink grapefruit zest, oaken vanilla, peppery warmth, and pungent peat smoke.

Distillery Information

Unusually for a distillery of this size Laphroaig has retained its own floor maltings which still account for 20% of its requirements. They have been retained specifically because it is believed that the Laphroaig kiln produces a more creosote-like phenolic character than the malt the distillery receives from the Port Ellen maltings. Certainly, a tarry iodine note is one of the signatures of the spirit.
