This 14-year-old Laphroaig was distilled in 1973 and bottled in 1987 by Avery's of Bristol. This was bottled from a single cask by John Avery and the outturn was spilt between the Avery's of Bristol wine shop and a close friend, from whom we purchased this stock. We opened a bottle at The Whisky Show Old & Rare 2019 and were met by notes of fresh hay, dusty books, almond tart, chestnut, honey, sweet pipe tobacco and coffee.

Nose: Very clean and appetising, with a gentle floral character.

Palate: This is extremely rich and very balanced in flavour.

Finish: Smooth & lingering.

Laphroaig distillery is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky distillery. It is named for the area of land at the head of Loch Laphroaig on the south coast of the Isle of Islay.
