This heavily peated, maritime malt from Ledaig has been elevated by exotic rum casks from Guyana. The Uitvlugt Distillery produced a rich, ester-heavy style of rum, until it closed in 2000.

Nose: Banana custard, smoky apple and coastal notes.

Palate: Grilled peach, pineapple with sweet embers.

Finish: Oily peat, tropical fruits ans a faint sea spray.

Distillery Information

(Le-Chig) In present day we know Ledaig as the delightfully peaty expression from the Tobermory distillery. Originally however, the name of Ledaig was used for this Isle of Mull distillery when established in 1798 by John Sinclair. Meaning “Safe Haven” in Gaelic, the production of Ledaig and Tobermory Whisky is split 50/50. The character of Ledaig traditionally is sweet and oily with a heavy reek of earthy smoke. This bold, punchy peat monster can go toe to toe with the finest peated whiskies from Islay.
