Linkwood distillery was founded in 1821 by Peter Brown near Elgin in the Speyside region of Scotland, with its first distillations taking place in 1824. It remained with the Brown family until 1933, when it was sold to Scottish Malt Distillers, a subsidiary of the company that would become Diageo.
