Nose: Complex, leather, tobacco.
Palate: Fruity, walnuts, almonds, candied orange, cinnamon.
Finish: Perfect, long lasting finish.
Distillery Information
Meukow Cognac is a Cognac brand established by the Meukow brothers in the 19th Century and based in the town of Cognac itself. The origins of the brand date back to its founding by Auguste-Christophe and Gustav Meukow, two brothers who arrived in Cognac from Silesia (then in Prussia/Germany and now an area in southwestern Poland, near the borders with the Czech Republic and Germany). The company saw numerous ownership changes over the decades although the Meukow label was retained. In 1979, it was acquired by the Compagnie de Guyenne spirits company, established by Michel Coste a local businessman, initially from the Bordeaux region, who, prior to settling in Cognac, had worked in the petroleum industry. Coste's stewardship of Meukow reinvigorated the brand, and the label has remained with the Compagnie de Guyenne/Coste family since. It is currently overseen by his children: Philippe, Marie-Laure and Céline (Michel Coste died in 2015). A range of Cognacs are produced under label, including a range of different aged expressions (VSOP, XO, VS), flavored liqueurs (Meukow Xpresso and Meukow Vanilla) and a number of special releases including the Palme d’Or Rarissime, Esprit de Famille, XO Grande Champagne and Nec Plus Ultra bottlings.
