The rum undergoes a secondary maturation in barrels that previously held Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye, a 6-year-old unfiltered rye whiskey from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. This finishing process imparts nuanced layers of flavor, marrying the rich, full-bodied character of Jamaican rum with the bold spice and herbal notes characteristic of rye whiskey.
