This addition to the Old Perth Vintage Collection is a 2009 vintage blended malt Scotch whisky combining spirit matured in three types of sherry cask, from three well-known distilleries. The vatting of whiskies, drawn from a second-fill oloroso butt, a second-fill oloroso hogshead, and a first-fill Pedro Ximénez hogshead was bottled without added colour or chill filtration at a generous 53.6% ABV.

Nose: Polished oak, aromatic tobacco, prunes, raisins, and sultanas, with a touch of leather beneath.
Palate: Heaps of spiced, dried fruits, with candied citrus, plump raisins and dark toffee.
Finish: Fruit cake spices linger with caramelised nuts, biscuity malt, and rich oak.
Distillery Information
Old Perth is a revival of a blend produced by Peter Thomson whiskies. The firm was founded in 1908 and the Thomson family became one of the great names of Perth whisky blending along with Arthur Bell, John Dewar and the Gloag family of Famous Grouse fame. Old Perth was the premium blend with Beneagles as the more everyday offering. The Thomson family sold up in the 1980s and Old Perth became part of Whyte & Mackay and eventually discontinued. But in 2005, the brand was acquired by a new firm of Morrison & Mackay which was founded by Kenny MacKay, a former employee of Peter Thomson, Rob Starling, and Brian and Jamie Morrison, formerly of Morrison Bowmore. It’s now a premium blended malt available in various iterations including a classic offering at 46% ABV, a cask strength version and vintage versions.
