Penny Blue 13 Year Old 2011 Single Cask #220 Ex-Sherry Oloroso Foundations | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and creamy. Literally bewitching, the aromatic palette first reveals scents of chocolate, black coffee, hot bitumen and walnut stain. This empyreumatic opening gradually gives way to scents of fig, burnt caramel, treacle and zan.
Palate: Dense and full-bodied. In perfect continuity with the nose, the palette of flavours reveals ultra-ripe banana, candy sugar and fresh fig. Powdery (cocoa), slightly camphoraceous and liquorice-like, it gradually ventures into the world of Armagnacs, revealing prune flavours of rare eloquence.
Finish: Long and fluffy. With its sandy texture, reminiscent of a boulbènes terroir, the range of flavours becomes even more deeply rooted in the Gers. Increasingly infused (bay leaf) and autumnal (chestnut), the tasting continues with flavours of blood orange and gingerbread.

Médine is a Mauritian distillery that has been in operation since 1926. Framed by mountains and the blue sea, it is one of the oldest rum production units in Mauritius. The distillery lies at the heart of a vast sugarcane-growing estate, from which molasses is produced to make locally-produced Penny Blue rums.
