ALL ORDERS PLACED ARE GUARANTEED and WILL NOT be cancelled like with other retailers. Many other small liquor store sites will end up cancelling your order due to the high demand and unavailability.

Size: 700ML

Proof: 80 (40%ABV)

Origin: Cuba

Distillery: Ron Santiago de Cuba

This is the 12 year old expression from the Ron Santiago de Cuba range of rums. The distillery produces its own molasses, using sugar cane grown in south-east Cuba, which is then distilled before the rum is allowed to rest in white oak barrels. The casks are stored at The Don Pancho warehouse, and legend has it that due to its proximity to nearby train tracks, the barrels gently tremble as trains rumble by! A well-put-together expression from the Cuban distillers, plenty to enjoy here.

Ron Santiago de Cuba 12 Year Old Extra Añejo | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Good helpings of thick, rich caramel and sweet fruits - think orange segments and dried cherry.

Palate: Quite nutty at first, though the fruit notes swiftly return (more tropical than before).

Finish: Burnt sugar and a touch of banana.

Distillery Information

Ron Santiago de Cuba is the second-largest premium Cuban rum (no prizes for guessing what the first is) founded 1862 in the oldest city of Cuba, which is also called Santiago de Cuba. Presumably, that’s where the name comes from. In the 1959 revolution, Cuba’s rum industry was nationalised and Ron Santiago de Cuba rums began to be made by the state at the former Matusalem distillery in Cuba’s Sierra Maestra region from sugarcane molasses. Its standard expressions include a Carta Blanca and an Añejo bottling, but Ron Santiago de Cuba also has a habit of making some exceptional Extra Añejos.
