A sherry-kissed Strathmill from Signatory’s 100 Proof Edition series, this 12-year-old single malt was distilled in 2012 and matured in first-fill oloroso sherry butts. Bottled at 100 Proof (57.1% ABV) in 2025 without chill-filtration or added colour, it's elegant, rich, and a great choice for those who enjoy Speyside malts with added depth.
Strathmill 12 Year Old 2012 - 100 Proof Edition #36 (Signatory) Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Honeyed orchard fruits, cinnamon, and hints of dark chocolate.
Palate: Ripe plums, spiced toffee, and a touch of nutty oak.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering sherried sweetness and soft spice.
Distillery Information
Single malt Scotch whisky from the Strathmill distillery is decidedly rare. There has been but one official bottling, discounting the two casks released in 1992 to celebrate the distillery’s centenary, and only a small number of independent releases. There is a dearth of whisky despite the unique, indulgent character that Strathmill Scotch tends to proffer. The distinctive taste is due, in part, to the addition of purifiers on the lyne arms and condensers of the stills, imparting a delicate nature to the whisky. The reason for this, is that the Strathmill distillery has long since produced whisky for blending and is notably a component in Old Master, Dunhill, and most significantly, J&B. It was in 1962, that the gin specialists W & A Gilbey merged with United Wine Traders. They subsequently formed International Distillers and Vintners. Justerini and Brooks were among their number, thus the association with J&B.
