      Producer Information

Champagne Telmont is a house founded in 1912 and located at Damery in Épernay in the Vallée de la Marne. During the Champagne Riots of 1911 Henri Lhôpital composed the song "Gloire au Champagne", urging winemakers to keep their production standards high. The riots also compelled Henri to set up a new house under his own name the following year. André Lhôpital became the cellar master in 1937 following the death of his father. Two years later on the outbreak of war, André joined the Cuirassiers cavalry regiment, whose insignia features on the wine labels. He renamed the house as Champagne de Telmont in 1947, after one of his best vineyard plots (the 'de' was removed some decades later). The business moved to its current location in Damery in 1968. Serge Lhôpital ran the business from 1983 to 1998, before handing it over his children, the current generation, Bertrand and Pascale. Bertrand remained as Cellar Master and Head of Viticulture when drinks group Rémy Cointreau became majority shareholders in 2020. In 2022, film star Leonardo DiCaprio became a minority shareholder in the Telmont house. The business current and planned environmental policies played an important part in this.
