The English 18th Anniversary Release Chapter 18 Single Malt Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Rhubarb crumble, candied citrus, toasted oak and a faint whiff of distant smoke.
Palate: Stewed apples and pears dusted with cinnamon and black pepper. Burnt toffee, brown sugar and vanilla custard mingle with spiced oak and peat.
Finish: A final flourish of baked fruits, old wood and sweet spice.
Distillery Information
The English Distillery, founded by James and Andrew Nelstrop is situated near the Norfolk town of Thetford and began distilling on 12th December 2006. Impressively, The English Distillery source their barley, yeast and water (the three ingredients needed for whisky production) from within England, making this a truly English spirit, and is England’s oldest registered whisky distillery. The English Distillery released the first legal English whisky in over a century in December 2009. Their single malt whiskies have been released under a few different names before they settled on The English Distillery, so you’ll see older bottles with The English Whisky Co. or St. George’s Distillery on the label. Early releases under The English Whisky Co. name were given a chronological chapter number, although chapters 1-4 were not technically whiskies, not having been aged for the required minimum of 3 years.
