"Tomintoul Distillery, founded in 1965 during a 1960s whisky boom by Glasgow brokers Hay & MacLeod & Co. and W & S Strong & Co., aimed to supply blends but soon became a single malt player, changing hands multiple times before Angus Dundee Distillers acquired it in 2000, establishing its own brand with core releases like the 10 and 16-year-olds, known for its lighter Speyside character and stable ownership under Angus Dundee."
