      Producer Information

Kapcsándy Family Winery is a wine producer located in the Yountville sub-appellation of Napa Valley, California. It is particularly well-known for its Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blends, which can reach some high prices and are sold mostly through allocation. The State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has had 100-point scores from top wine critic Robert Parker for several vintages. The estate was established by Lou Kapcsándy, who had fled his home country of Hungary in the 1950s. In the U.S. he became a petroleum and pharmaceutical engineer, and in his spare time developed a passion for fine French wine. In 2000, he bought the 20 acre (8 hectare) State Lane Vineyard in Yountville which had previously belonged to Beringer, but had been ripped out after an outbreak of phylloxera in 1999. Kapcsándy replanted it to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and produced the first vintage in 2004.
