      Producer Information

Domaine d'Eugénie is a wine producer in Burgundy's Vosne-Romanée known for its Pinot Noir. It was formed in 2006 from the esteemed vineyards of Domaine René Engel after the death of its proprietor, Philippe Engel, which included premier and grand cru plots. Francois Pinault, owner of Château Latour, bought the vineyards but not the winery. Following Engel's death in May 2005, the 2005 vintage of Domaine René Engel was sold in bulk. After the acquisition of the vineyards, Domaine D'Eugénie operated in an interim space at Domaine Lupé-Cholet in Nuits-Saint-Georges for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 vintages. In the interim, D'Eugénie established its own winery back in Vosne-Romanée, at the former Clos Frantin vineyard and buildings. These formerly belonged to Beaune-based wine estate Albert Bichot. Bichot retained the Clos Frantin brand. D'Eugénie upgraded all the facilities and renamed the monopole vineyard to Clos d'Eugénie. The domain farms 6.5 hectares (16 acres) in Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot and Flagey-Échezeaux. It produces six wines from five appellations: the grand crus Échezeaux, Grands Échezeaux and Clos de Vougeot, the premier cru Aux Brûlées and Vosne-Romanée Villages.
