Producer Information
Domaine Latour-Giraud is a wine producer based in the town of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland. The estate produces a range of labels from local and neighboring vineyard sites, predominantly based on the local mainstay: Chardonnay, although a number of red, Pinot Noir wines are also made. The domaine vineyards cover around 10 hectares (25 acres), with roughly 85 percent given over to white wines in the Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Bourgogne Blanc appellations. The remainder is Pinot Noir, grown in Meursault and neighboring Volnay and Pommard. Among Meursault Premier Cru sites, Latour-Giraud has a 2.5-hectare (6.1-acre) holding in the well-regarded Genevrières vineyard as well as plots in Perrières, Charmes, Poruzots and Bouchères. The domaine also produces a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru: Champs-Canet. Almost all the Pinot Noir cultivated by the estate is in premier cru vineyards, covering the Refène (Pommard), Clos des Chênes (Volnay) and Caillerets (Meursault) sites. A Pommard Cuvée Carmen is produced from fruit grown in two plots at the very western end of the appellation. The domaine was founded in 1958 when the local Giraud and Latour-Boillot families (distillers and vignerons respectively) were united by marriage. The domaine is currently overseen by brother and sister Jean-Pierre and Florence Latour.
