      Producer Information

Domaine Michel Magnien & Frédéric Magnien is a wine producer and négociant based in Morey-Saint-Denis, in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy. The Michel Magnien estate covers 18 hectares (44 acres) with plots in grand cru, premier cru, village and regional AOC vineyards in the area. The estate is run by Michel's son, Frédéric, who also produces an eponymous négoce range of wines made from fruit purchased off other growers. Frédéric Magnien – one of the region's most respected winemakers – joined his father Michel at the domaine in 1993. Until the early 1990s, the domaine only bottled part of its production, selling the rest to négociants. This changed when Frédéric took on production for his father, roughly at the same time as setting up his own négociant label (often referred to as "Maison Frédéric Magnien") in 1995. By law, the two operations have to have different winemaking facilities, though both are based in Morey-Saint-Denis and are neighboring sites.
